So Sygma with 50 million images has been put out of business as a result of a judgment of under 2 million dollars?  According to a report by AFP, Sygma is insolvent. Sygma with 50 million images in its possession, custody and control has been rendered “insolvent”. The AFP report say Sygma “can’t pay its debts” according its director Stefan Biberfeld.  The story duly notes that Sygma is the personal property of Bill Gates. As it is not a public company, Corbis need not make public financial filings which would make its true financial picture accessible to the public.

Hard to believe that a company with the acknowledged assets and supposed billings of Sygma can legitimately be knocked out of business by one court case awarding  1.5 Million Euros.  It appears that neither Corbis nor Mr. Gates elected to ride to Sygma’s rescue.  We can only wonder why.

We will attempt to follow up with Mr. Aubert’s attorney to see if his judgment will get paid.
