PetaPixel.com just posted this story about the UK’s new law allowing copyright infringement cases to go through a “small claims” process without a lawyer. As we’ve written here, the US is looking at a similar path for infringements. Ed has worked on a similar proposal with APA, which is being reviewed by a US Congressional sub-committee. More on this later, but good news for photographers in the UK. Yippee!

Well , Photographers and other artists have long seen erosion of their sales territories by image theft, ‘passing off’ and blatant non-payment of fees. Now things are set to improve with this new development. More on copyright here

Lawyers have had a hard time with this law, in the US. But I feel that more artists and entertainers will greatly benefit from this option.
Let’s just hope the opt out scenario doesn’t allow defendants to keep the case out of small claims all together.
Also I wish that Congress would post something about when they are planning to take a vote.
To some, not important, but to artists it’s a moral victory.
