Jazz singer and Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding’s new album uses a stylized boombox made up of a photographer’s photos. While we don’t know anything about this case other than that which is contained in the NY Post article here, we can tell you that the fact pattern which culminated in this claim are very, very typical. As we emphasize many times, infringements are not all on the Internet.

as I was leaving for work he sales manager for the store where I work was proudly showing me her newest post for the stores social media site. A photo of some jewelery taken in front of the stores notebook computer displaying a photograph from Google. She actually believes that this is a valid method of avoiding copyright liability.
Having been a long time reader of both you Photoshop user magazine articles and your blog I see it as just another example of a flagrant request to meet new people like intellectual property attorneys (at significant expense).
