This falls under “Things you should know” Here’s a link to a great blog piece on Scientific America’s website regarding the Pinterest TOS (Terms of Service). The writer, Kalliopi Monoyios is a scientific illustrator at the University of Chicago and a book illustrator. She explains word by word what scares her away from Pinterest. http://tinyurl.com/6ndolc7
Ms. Monoyios also writes about the advantages of being on a social media site with your work, but does a good job explaining the pitfalls with Pinterest.
As we always say, words matter. Thanks to Ellis Vener for sending that link.

This model worked so very well for “the Huffington Post” it should not surprise anyone that some sharp “person” would reuse it to shear any remaining sheep….
And more importantly it is another reason, as if there weren’t enough already, to register your copyrights. And to carefully read those TOS’s. However regarding the TOS most allow the host to change them at any time, so what is the situation if the website changes its TOS to own content which was posted prior to the change under more favorable terms?
