This video from CollegeHumor.com is soooo perfect in explaining the issues with the recent Facebook privacy notice hoax.

For those not familiar with the tv show “Person of Interest” it is premised upon a super machine which sees, hears and tracks all human behavior. It was invented by a former genius employee of the Federal Government who has gone rogue to be a do gooder for innocents in danger. Anyhow, the inventor says to this partner in a recent episode that , “I invented all social media…all of it.” Partner is incredulous an cynical, Finch the genius says, “The government tried and failed for almost 100 years to get everyone’s most intimate and their private information and then be able to track them 24/7. It was my idea to simply ask people nicely, to give it to us…and it worked”.
Maybe it’s not fiction.
